For my fourth travel story, I'm taking you to Iwami Tatamigaura in Kokufu-cho, Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture! Since it's right next to Hiroshima, it's the perfect destination for an easy getaway.

*This article is a report from my visit on May 15, 2021.

Iwami Tatamigaura: 2210-1 Kokufu-cho, Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture 697-0003, Japan

Iwami Tatamigaura feels like a completely different world that catches you totally by surprise!

One minute you're just at a regular beach, and the next—boom! It feels like you've been straight-up "reincarnated into an Isekai" (another world)! 😆✨

That’s exactly the kind of magic you experience at Iwami Tatamigaura.

Designated as a national natural monument, this scenic spot builds up so much excitement the moment you walk through the cave-like tunnel and step into another world.

Often called "The Salar de Uyuni of Shimane," it’s packed with incredible spots where you can take tons of gorgeous, Instagram-worthy photos!

When we first arrived, it looked just like a quiet fishing port.

The moment you pull up to Iwami Tatamigaura, you're greeted by a charming fishing port. The salty ocean breeze is amazing! It’s incredibly peaceful and has a completely different vibe from what you'd expect from a "Uyuni" lookalike.

But right ahead, there's a mysterious-looking tunnel, and it turns out this is the only way to reach the actual beach!

Honestly, just walking through this tunnel gets your adrenaline pumping!

Photos really don't do justice to how thrilling it feels. I even shot a video, but you truly have to visit Iwami Tatamigaura and walk through the tunnel yourself to experience this incredible rush! 💦💦

Once you pass through the tunnel... WOW!!!

It is a whole different world!

Stepping out, I couldn't help but gasp as a breathtaking panoramic view opens up right in front of your eyes! The landscape is so stunning that it makes you want to just run around with pure joy! \(^o^)/

The sea, the sky—it's just endless, beautiful blue!

Even though it was only mid-May, the sky looked as brilliant and deep blue as the peak of summer. And the water acts like a flawless mirror, perfectly reflecting the sky above. Standing there, I knew without a doubt why they call this the Salar de Uyuni of Shimane.

By the way, the man in the top photo is my husband, who came along on this trip with me! 😃
